Rome Public Transportation System is operated by A.T.A.C.
The following are the basic information about bus and metro in Rome
 
Where to buy tickets:
  • automatic tickets dispensers
  • ATAC and COTRAL business centers
  • authorized vendors (tabbacconist, newspaper stands)
 
Where tickets can be used:
  • Atac buses
  • Cotral buses (urban routes)
  • Cotral Trains: Roma-Lido, Roma-Viterbo (Rome - Sacrofano leg), Roma-Pantano
  • A and B subways (for one trip , including those requiring switching lines without having to pass through the turnstile)
  • FS trains (one trip, one direction)
   
B.I.T.  
Integrated Single Ticket
Price: L. 1500
Duration: 75 minutes from the first validation

Validation:
In order to be valid, the BIT ticket must always be stamped at the beginning of the bus ride or upon entering the subway platform (before the 75-minute expiration, the ticket must be re-stamped in order to remain valid for the entire trip). Validating machines are located: on the buses, trams, subway turnstile entrances, Roma-Lido trains and FS trains.

Conservation of ticket:
The BIT ticket must be conserved until the carrier has arrived at its destination, and shown, upon request, to the ticket inspector.

Note:
BIT tickets purchased at the B line subway stations are of a different size than standard tickets and can therefore be validated only at the B line subway stations.

   
B.I.G.  
Integrated Daily Ticket
Price: L. 6.000
Duration: until midnight of the day on which the tickets is validated; good for unlimited rides

Validation:
In order to be valid, the BIG ticket must always be stamped at the beginning of the trip.Validating machines are located: on the buses, trams, subway turnstile entrances, Roma-Lido trains and FS trains.

Conservation of ticket:
The BIG ticket must be conserved until the carrier has arrived at its destination, and shown, upon request, to the ticket inspector.

Note:
BIG tickets purchased at the B line subway stations are of a different size than standard tickets and can therefore be validated only at the B line subway stations.

   
C.I.S.
Integrated Weekly Pass
Price: L. 24.000
Duration: seven days; good for unlimited rides

Validation:
To validate the pass, the pass-holder must complete the relevant information on the pass (personal information and the week for which the pass is to be used).

Conservation of pass:
The CIS pass must be conserved until the carrier has arrived at its destination, and shown, upon request, to the ticket inspector.
